The inaugural Grand Chess Tour was played over three tournaments. Stavanger in June, St Louis in August, and finished in London on December 13th. Magnus had a rough start in Norway Chess, but after 2nd place in the Sinquefield Cup in St. Louis he was in the run for the lead. After an intense last day in London, with ties and play-offs, Magnus finished well. Not only did he win the London Chess Classics, he also became the first overall winner of the Grand Chess Tour.
